Larry Stewart

Electric Bass

Larry Stewart started playing the guitar at age 13, first teaching himself tunes off the radio- he grew up with names like Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis. At 15, he played his first gigs and was most interested in players such as Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix and the Paul Butterfield blues band. After falling in love with the tunes like Take 5 and Girl from Ipanema, he went straight to LA after high school to perform and had the privilege of jamming with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Herb Alpert, David Crosby, Steven Stills, Arlo Guthrie and Delaney and Bonnie. Now an accomplished jazz guitar player, Larry spent time studying at both Ohlone and Las Positas Colleges. Besides guitar, Larry is also proficient at both electric bass and ukulele. He regularly performs solo and with various jazz bands anywhere from Stockton to Livermore and beyond in addition to teaching at Main Street Music.
