Katie Venner

Katie Venner has been studying piano technique and music theory for close to twenty years and has been teaching piano for 7 years. She specializes in the art of classical and jazz piano as well as contemporary and popular styles. She has extensive experience in performing solo piano, as piano accompanist, singing, and as pianist/keyboardist for large and small jazz/blues bands. She is currently studying for a Bachelors degree in music theory and composition at CSU Stanislaus and will graduate in Spring 2011. In addition to her abilities as a performing musician she is also an up and coming composer. She has written pieces for solo piano, string quartet, various instrumental solos and duets, wind ensemble, and several jazz arrangements. Along with her passion for music itself, she is very passionate about music education. She is driven by a desire to enhance children's learning experience by teaching them to read, play, and understand music. She feels strongly that it is an essential part of education, that it promotes good self-esteem and concentration, and that it's fun too!!
